The Harsh Realities

• Discrimination routinely affects LGBTQ+ people in the workplace, while it can also cost them their homes, access to education, or ability to engage in public life
• There are approximately 2.5 million homeless members of the LGBTQ+ youth community in America
• 41% of transgender people happen to attempt suicide
• Cases of family rejection or even violence of LGBTQ+ youth continue to rise
• Non-heterosexual people often conform to hiding their personal relationships, delaying health care, or changing the way they dress to avoid being discriminated

The Need for Empowerment

• We all must join the revolution of accepting and loving someone different
• The social and work discrimination of the LGBTQ+ community must come to an end
• Congress should pass the Equality Act in order to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in housing, credit, and federal funding
• The mission of Social Courage remains the same; we prioritize encouraging others in expressing themselves instead of conforming to the expectations of society
